Converter gas is one of the important by-products of steelmaking. Improving the recycling amount of converter gas is not only the requirement of developing circular economy and implementing cleaner production, but also the internal need of energy saving and reducing cost and increasing efficiency. Faced with the situation that the standard of coal recovery is low in the same industry, the amount of delivery is insufficient, and the normal use of coal compression machine is 4 to 1, resulting in high cost per ton of steel and low proportion of self-generated electricity, the Energy and Power Plant (Hebei Rongxin) has set up a research group to discuss the plan and find a breakthrough together, starting from the most basic operation, focusing on details and strengthening equipment. The target value of 50,000 m³/h was set based on the average usage of converter gas and the recovery of converter gas in the last 5 months.

Thought leads the direction, mission gathers strength. After determining the target value, the research team began to analyze and investigate the reasons restricting the use of gas in 100MW converter. From the five aspects of human, machine, material, method and environment, the production process of 100MW power generation, recycling and delivery gas pipeline, equipment maintenance and production management were carried out detailed and meticulous investigation and analysis. A total of 12 possible factors affecting gas recovery output were identified.
Through the verification of all the end factors, it is finally determined that the main reasons restricting the use of gas in 100MW converter are insufficient pipeline delivery capacity and easy blockage of 100MW burner.

The research team immediately launched a workshop for the two main reasons and formulated measures.

Aiming at the problem of insufficient pipeline delivery capacity, the process flow chart is made and the process flow is reformed. Since the converter gas cabinet door to the 25000 power plant inside and outside the pipeline is φ1000mm pipeline, the delivery capacity is limited, the gas cabinet is in a high capacity state, after calculation, it is decided to add a φ1200mm pipeline to increase the delivery capacity.

In view of the problem that the 100MW burner is easy to clog, the coal transfer burner is checked and cleaned regularly, and the change of coal transfer flow rate is paid attention to when the coal transfer regulating valve is fully opened, so as to avoid the influence of the burner unsmooth on the use of converter gas. The research team also formulated the "Standardized Operation Instruction Book for Cleaning Coal burners" to optimize the daily operation process of workers and ensure the long-term effectiveness of the improvement.

Through the joint efforts of the cadres and staff of the Energy Power Plant (Hebei Rongxin), after the transformation of the converter gas pipeline, through the comparison of data, the coal transfer flow rate increased significantly, and the pressure difference decreased, meeting the requirements; After the three burners of 100MW converter gas were cleaned, the amount of coal converted increased significantly. Through the flow observation and regular inspection and cleaning measures when the regulating valve was fully opened, the problem of the blockage of the coal converted burner affecting the amount of coal converted burner was completely solved, and the recovery amount of converter gas was increasing month by month. It is estimated that the annual benefit can be created 12,921,408 yuan.
